Executive Team

Richard Boland - Chief Executive
Richard was appointed Retail Trust Chief Executive in 2012. Richard is also Non-Executive of Dove Nest Group and Non-Executive Chairman of Casa Lucia Interiors Ltd and retained Retail Advisor to Sony Direct UK.

Richard provides coaching & mentoring at director, partner and senior executive level through Dove Nest Group and Moller PSF to leading organisations across a wide spectrum of business.

A seasoned retail veteran with 40 years in the industry, the last 20+ of which have been at CEO level in both publicly-owned and privately-owned business with revenues of up to £750m and up to 7,500 employees. Richard's earlier career platform was established in blue chip retailer FT 100 companies or equivalent GUS, Sears, Asda and C&A.

Rob Mansell - Chief Operating Officer
Rob joined Retail Trust in 2006 after spending 15 years working as a Finance Director for companies including three retail suppliers, Baco Consumer Products Ltd, Ilford Ltd and Silentnight Group Furniture Brands. Rob is responsible for all matters concerning supported living and care, charitable services, IT and finance at Retail Trust.

John English - Fundraising & Marketing Director
John was appointed Fundraising & Marketing Director in February 2013. John joined Retail Trust having spent two years as Head of Regional Fundraising at Macmillan Cancer Support, and has previously served as Head of Retail at BAA, Stansted Airport. John's career also includes managerial roles at Hammerson, Ikea, Asda and Lidl.

Retna Thevarajah - Finance Director
Retna joined Retail Trust in January 2007. Before joining Retail Trust, she had spent five years with Ernst & Young London working on projects in financial services and a further five years in line management roles with Euroclear in the City of London.  After serving as the charity’s Financial Controller for three years, she was promoted to Finance Director in January 2012. Her recent involvement with CASS Business School’s charity accounting programme demonstrates her continued commitment to the sector. She is responsible for finance and company secretarial services at Retail Trust.

Joe Kennedy – Head of HR & Organisational Development
Joe joined Retail Trust as HR Assistant in 2008 having previously worked as HR & Compliance Officer in a security management company. Prior to that Joe held a number of roles with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Westminster covering learning and development, volunteer recruitment and development, resource writing and editing. He was promoted to lead our HR team in January 2012. Joe is an Associate Member of the CIPD, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in HR Management and has overall responsibility for Retail Trust’s People Strategy.

While retail offers unparalleled opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds, it has many people on or near the minimum wage, which currently stands at £6.08 for workers aged 21 and over.
