Why Retail Trust's EAP?

Set up by retailers for retailers
The Retail Trust Employee Assistance Programme is the only EAP that is designed specifically for retailers by retailers and is run exclusively for retail and associated businesses. We have been in existence for nearly 180 years, so we are uniquely placed to understand the challenges faced by retail staff in a way that no other EAP provider can.

We currently have over 120 partners throughout the retail sector and associated businesses, so we are looking after 776,000 staff in the sector.

Freephone Helpline
The Retail Trust Helpline 0808 801 0808 is free, confidential and independent service which is available to all your staff and their families. As the Helpline is confidential, we can assure your staff that their problems will stay personal, which can be reassuring for those who have issues they may not want to discuss with your HR department.

Where appropriate, we will give staff access to Counselling, Legal Advice and Debt Advice. See all the services available through the Retail Trust Helpline.

Cost effective
We ask for a minimal charitable donation in relation to the number of employees in your business, so the service is a non-taxable benefit. At less than 1p per day per employee, our EAP is highly cost effective so it when compared with commercial EAP operators.

CSR
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is about considering your company’s impact on society and your staff, and how to influence this in a positive way. Providing the Retail Trust Employee Assistance Programme for your staff demonstrates a commitment to their well-being and shows that your company is going beyond the minimum legal requirements of staff care. As ‘payment’ is via a charitable donation, it may form part of your Corporate Social Responsibility agenda.

About Retail Trust

Retail Trust is the only charity that looks after the needs of all three million people working in retail, plus those retired from the sector and its associated businesses. We provide help and support to people whatever challenges they face. While retail offers unparalleled opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds, it has many people on or near the minimum wage, which currently stands at £6.08 for workers aged 21 and over. When something goes wrong, these people can be very vulnerable. Retail Trust has services in place to make sure that we can be there for those who need the support and assistance.
