Brighton Retail Ready People calling for artists to Make-Away

Make-Away is a youth-led pop-up shop featuring take-away do-it-yourself screen printed t-shirts and handmade artwork by local Brighton artists.

A group of local Brighton young people, working together as part of the Retail Ready People project, are launching a brand new pop-up shop next month which will sell custom-made screen printed t-shirts, and are looking for local artists and designers to support and take part in the project.

Brighton was selected as one of the first locations for the project, along with Enfield, and the pop-up shop will open on Saturday 3rd November.

Make-Away will be a pop-up shop in the centre of Brighton. The dozen members of Brighton’s Retail Ready People team are working together to create a space that offers customers a more hands on experience in retail – offering customers the chance to choose from a selection of a screen print designed by local artists, choose a t-shirt and then screen print their own shirt to take-away.

There’s 3 different ways for artists to take part:
•    Design a screen for screen-printing
•    Artists to supply the shop with unique handmade items
•    Artists / collectives to provide a one-off workshop

The focus on local products will help to give designers and artists in the area a showcase for their work. Any artists or designers interested in taking part in the project should email make-away@gmail.com or head to www.make-away.com and click on ‘Get Involved’.
