#highstheroes campaign receives £10,000 donation from software supplier Intuit

Retail Trust’s #highstheroes fundraising campaign received a further boost courtesy of a major donation from Intuit, makers of QuickBooks accounting software for small businesses.

Intuit, which supplies accounting software to more than four million small businesses worldwide, has donated £10,000 to Retail Trust #highstheroes campaign in order to support small business shop keepers and their families who were victims of the UK riots last week.

100% of Intuit’s donation will go directly to retailers in need and will help the charity to relieve the immediate difficulties they are experiencing as a result of the riots.

Anyone in the retail industry who has been affected directly or indirectly by the riots is encouraged to apply for a grant here.

Sally Revell, Head of Marketing at Intuit UK, explains why the company decided to donate to Retail Trust’s #highstheroes fundraising campaign: “Intuit is committed to supporting UK small businesses and enabling them to be successful. Following last week’s riots, our staff wanted to find a way to help small businesses to get back on their feet. The Retail Trust offers a fantastic way to reach those affected and we hope that our donation will make a difference.”

Nigel J L Rothband, Retail Trust CEO, expressed his gratitude to Intuit, and underlined the importance of the #highstheroes fund: “We are delighted that Intuit has come forward and offered to donate £10,000 to #highstheroes for riot affected retailers in need. This will have an immediate impact by helping people in retail who have been left homeless, traumatised and without a livelihood. I would urge more supporters to follow Intuit’s lead and donate to Retail Trust to help retailers across the UK who need our support now. “

The emergency fund was set up after Retail Trust received requests from the public wanting to help retail staff and their families whose lives were in turmoil.  #highstheroes has attracted support from members of the public, who are donating online and by text with many organising events, comedy nights, auctions, parties, concerts raffles, and, as well as running marathons and selling t-shirts in aid of Retail Trust’s #highstheroes fund.

Anyone wishing to donate to the fund can donate any amount online at here or by texting HSTH11 £5 to 70070 now.
