It's Independents' Day!

Skillsmart Retail and the National Skills Academy for Retail have teamed up with local retailers across the country to celebrate Independents’ Day this 4th July.

Everyone is encouraged to buy at least one item from a local independent retailer and celebrate diversity on the high street. Supporting independent retailers will champion the skills great independent retailers have and show the public that their local shopkeeper is not only a vital service, but someone who wears many hats; they are the accountant, sales assistant, buyer and often everything in-between.

Retail Trust is the only charity that looks after the needs of all three million people working in retail, plus those retired from the sector and its associated businesses. We provide help and support to people whatever challenges they face. While retail offers unparalleled opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds, it has many people on or near the minimum wage, which currently stands at £6.08 for workers aged 21 and over. When something goes wrong, these people can be very vulnerable. Retail Trust has services in place to make sure that we can be there for those who need the support and assistance.
