Manchester Masterclass 'inspiring' and 'informative'

The second Retail Trust Masterclass proved a huge success, as guest speaker John Timpson CBE, Chairman of Timpson, addressed 50 first-time retail managers at the Manchester Business School on Wednesday (18 July).

Introduced by Retail Trust Chief Executive Nigel J L Rothband, Mr Timpson spoke about the history of Timpson, their “upside down management” strategy, the company’s work with prisons and some of their success stories.

He also covered the importance of building relationships with staff and learning to trust them and the various staff benefits Timpsons offer. Mr Timpson spoke passionately about the various children’s charities his company supported, before ending with a Q&A session with the delegates.

The delegates were then given group tasks to complete by Lucy Widdowson from Change Consulting.

The Masterclass was well-received by all attendees, and some of the feedback received included:
