A group of young people are launching a youth-led community pop-up shop in Enfield next month.
The Cosy Cove has been set up by a group of 16-25 year olds, who want to change the negative stereotype of young people in London following last year’s riots in Enfield.
The shop is supported by Retail Trust and vInspired through a free 12 week skills and development programme called Retail Ready People.
Ellen Louise Patmore, a representative for the Cosy Cove, said: “When I found out about the Retail Ready People programme I thought this is something I want to do to help change the negative press young people have been getting since the riots in our area.
“Cosy Cove is a pop-up shop for the people of Enfield and London to come and experience something cosy and chilled in winter but more importantly it’s all about rebuilding our community and reminding everyone that we love Enfield and not all young people are negative stereotypes.”
The young people are looking to work with local designers based in London who would like to showcase their seasonal clothing and accessories – hoodies, scarves, hats, gloves and knitwear in the store.
Any artists or designers interested in taking part in the project should call Michael Lo on 07883 339 743 or email cosycovepopup@gmail.com by Sunday 28th October.
