Richard Boland appointed Chief Executive

Retail Trust announces that Richard Boland is appointed Chief Executive with effect from 12 November 2012.

Richard has been Chief Executive of Adams Childrenswear, Freemans Mail Order and Birthdays during a long and distinguished retail career which also includes spells with GUS and C&A, the Dutch-multinational.

He has been a long term supporter of Retail Trust’s work, most notably in fundraising and organising the Great Northern Ball.

He takes over from Nigel Rothband.

John Lovering Chairman of Retail Trust said: "Richard will bring energy, drive and vision to our work. He has a commitment to the goals we have set and will build strong links to our funding partners in and supplying the retail industry. 

"He will also build links with other organisations concerned with the welfare of those people who are working in the retail industry. He has long been committed to the welfare of those who live in our network of care homes across the UK."

Richard Boland said: "I am delighted to be joining Retail Trust. This is probably the most challenging time for our industry of the last thirty years. The sterling work done by Retail Trust with the on-going support of the sector is more relevant today than at any time in its recent history.
