Personal Giving
Retail Trust relies on voluntary contributions to help people in retail when unforeseen circumstances create difficulties in life. Making a personal gift – of even a small amount - is always greatly appreciated and valued. There can be many mutual benefits such as tax relief or naming opportunities for you or your family throughout our Retirement Estates. For example you could name a cottage, a café or a community centre.
For more information about Personal Giving, please contact Sarah Talbot on 0208 358 7229 or email Fundraising on our Contact page. There are other ways to give: regular donations, leaving a legacy, or the gift of your time by organising an event or volunteering.
Regular donations
Just 16p a day (or £5 a month) can make a huge difference to the lives of people in need. You can make a donation by donating online or you can send us a postal donation (the address is on our Contact page).
If you are a UK taxpayer, you can Gift Aid your donation so Retail Trust can claim the basic tax you have paid on your earnings from the Inland Revenue. For every £1 you give, we can claim 28p. Or if you are a higher rate tax payer, you can benefit as you can claim relief on the difference between the basic rate and higher rate of tax when you fill in your tax return.
Leaving a legacy
Leaving something to Retail Trust in your will helps us to continue our work in the future. A legacy can be the amount that is left from your estate after all other costs have been deducted (residual gift), or a specific sum of money (pecuniary gift), or a percentage of your estate.
Organising your own event
You can even raise funds by organising an event of your own - anything from a raffle to an evening event - to raise funds for Retail Trust. You could set up a bespoke event, take part in Retail Trust Week, or raise funds through a trek or challenge.
Volunteering
Support Retail Trust by volunteering your time for an event (or help us to prepare for one). You can also help in one of our retirement estates, or just spread the word and tell other people about Retail Trust. Volunteering looks great on your CV and gives an insight into different aspects of the charity and retail industries.
