Retail Ready People in Enfield

 

 

Cosy Cove to open 10 November

Cosy Cove, Enfield’s only pop-up shop powered by volunteers on the Retail Ready People project, will be open and ready for business in the heart of Enfield town centre on Saturday 10 November for one month only.

Throughout November, Cosy Cove will be located at 16 Burleigh Way, and will be open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10am until 5pm.

Cosy Cove marks the beginning of pioneering voluntary project Retail Ready People, a FREE 12-week skills development and volunteering programme giving 16 – 25 year olds the chance to set up and run a pop-up shop in their local area.

Items to keep you snug this winter

The Enfield volunteers have opted to provide their customers with a space where they can relax and check out the seasonal offerings to keep them cosy this winter. A range of snug seasonal clothing and accessories will be on sale at Cosy Cove: jumpers, scarves, hats, gloves and other handmade unique products made by local people.

Changing perceptions

The volunteers are creating a space where locals can celebrate the Enfield community, helping to repair some of the damage done to the area’s reputation following last year’s riots.

 

Training for the volunteers

The very first free #RetailReady People Residential for 16-25 year olds who are looking to breathe new life into empty shops in Enfield took place this week, organised and facilitated by Retail Trust and vInspired.

A surprise pop-up shop was created for the volunteers to provide inspiration and ideas on what they could offer within their empty space to benefit the local communities. See photos in our gallery and on our Flickr page.
