Jane is often hailed as the queen of the British high street. She’s had an exceptional career at the forefront of affordable fashion; joining Top Shop in 1985, she became Brand Director in 1997, transforming the high street retailer into a global fashion brand, increasing profits from £10 million to £100million in 2006. After leaving Top Shop in 2006, she worked with Oxfam as Creative Advisor to Rebrand Stores in 2007 and remains on Oxfam Retail Advisory board to this day. In 2008 she led a management buy in of Whistles and remained as CEO until 2016, transforming the slightly dated brand to one that was relevant, contemporary and profitable. Director of London Fashion Fund since 2018 (a project funded by the Mayor’s office to invest in fashion and fashion tech businesses with the long-term aim of creating a more sustainable fashion industry). This passion for the environmental and social responsibility of fashion, led her to her current position in 2019 as Chair of the luxury fashion rental platform, My Wardrobe HQ, that not only makes high-end labels more accessible to more people, but also encourages to ‘borrow not buy’ helping less clothes end up in landfill.

Jane is also a Patron of Smartworks (since 2012) and a Smartworks Trustee since 2018. She has been awarded an honorary PHd from UAL and is an Honorary Professor at Glasgow Caledonian University.
