We have a unique opportunity for a Maintenance and Compliance Operative to join our team at our Mill Hill estate in London. Marshall Estate is a beautiful estate located in the leafy suburb of Mill Hill in North West London.  The estate is located in a gated community and offers 72 charming retirement properties, including one-bedroom cottages, town houses and flats.

About the role

Reporting to the Senior Maintenance and Compliance Manager and/or Estate Manager, you would become an important member of the estates team ensuring that excellent standards of maintenance, repairs, compliance and property management are carried out in an efficient and timely manner. This is an extremely varied role and you will be expected to be able to carry out many basic tasks from plumbing, joinery and painting to changing light bulbs and dealing with general maintenance issues around the estate.  You would be responsible for ensuring that legislative compliance tasks are undertaken and recorded, dealing with any issues directly or notifying your line manager. Supervision of contractors while on site confirming high standards and health and safety practices are adhered to. You will ensure that contractors, while on site, adhere to high standards of health and safety practices.

Key duties of the position will be (not exhaustive):

  • Routine preventative maintenance and corrective repairs involving
  • Painting
  • Basic joinery
  • Basic tiling
  • Silicone sealing of bathroom fixtures
  • Basic plumbing including unblocking drains and toilets
  • Replacing lamps
  • Working at height
  • Fire alarm testing
  • Compliance checks and records
  • Health and safety compliance
  • Supervision of contractors whilst on site
  • Participate in the on-call Rota as required
  • Being aware of and complying with safe working practices as instructed and in accordance with retailTRUST’s policies and proceduresYou will require a calm personality to plan and prioritise a complex workload.

Skills and experience

  • Maintenance experience in a similar role essential, ideally in a housing setting
  • UK driving licence
  • Trade qualification
  • Basic IT skills required, and must be competent using technology as smart phone/tablet will be part of your equipment
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines
  • An understanding of working in a retired development environment
