Salary: £10.55 per hour

About the role

We are looking to recruit a Supported Living Housing Assistant to join us at our Mill Hill estate. Working as part of the Housing team, you will ensure that the highest standards are maintained for individuals who use our services and that the charity meets the requirements and spirit of the Residents’ Charter.

This is a hands-on role where you will undertake frequent, responsive visits to residents of the estate. As part of the role,
you will:

  • Undertake home visits and provide housing management and well-being advice and services to estate residents.
  • Liaise with and update the Estate Manager regarding any resident’s issues or problems.
  • Answer daytime call-outs from residents and assist when necessary.
  • Liaise with all other retailTRUST departments and volunteers regarding the needs of residents.
  • Promote good communication between the residents and the management team.
  • Provide cover in the absence of other members of the Housing Team.
  • Undertake an intensive management service assessing security, health and safety checks in and around the home.
  • Maintain individual resident records, team diary and compliance documents in accordance with retailTRUST’s procedures.
  • Refer requests for aids and adaptations (where required) to appropriate services or the Estate Manager.
  • Assist in tenancy management matters, and ensure residents understand tenancy issues, rights and responsibilities in accordance with their Tenancy Agreement.
  • Work with the Finance Officer to ensure residents understand their rent and service charges and signpost to other agencies to ensure residents receive benefits. 
  • Assist Managers in implementing quality assurance initiatives to improve the standards and the development of services offered by the charity.

Skills and experience 

The ideal individual will have previous experience of supporting the elderly (gained either in employment or in a voluntary capacity) and be educated to NVQ Level 2/3. The successful applicant will enjoy working as part of a team, but capable of working independently and able to use their own initiative. The Supported Living Housing Assistant must be flexible as they will be expected to work on a rota basis, including lone working at weekends.
