About the role

We are looking for an empathetic individual to join our supported living team at our Hugh Fraser Retirement Estate. You will provide supported living services for all residents, enabling residents to achieve maximum independence and general wellbeing.

You will be joining us at what is an exciting time on our smart homes journey, being involved in the delivery of the latest service developments, implementing technology to enhance all aspects of resident’s wellbeing. 

This is a hands on role where you will undertake frequent responsive visits to residents of the Estate. Duties includes, but are not limited to:

  • Undertaking home visits and provide housing management and well-being advice and services to residents.
  • Undertaking Keyworker duties, ensuring the completion and review of Support Needs and Risk Assessments with individual residents and maintaining computerised records.
  • Liaising with and update the Estate Manager and the Senior Housing Management Assistant regarding any resident’s issues or problems.
  • Ensuring competency in the use of Smart Home devices and supporting residents to utilise devices within their homes to enhance support to meet individual needs.
  • Providing out of hours housing management and security response e.g. fire, flood, in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring a fast and efficient response to residents requests for housing related matters for example repairs, advice on rent, service charges or Housing Benefit advice.
  • Liaising with all other retailTRUST departments and volunteers regarding the needs of residents.
  • Providing cover in the absence of other members of the team.
  • Maintaining individual resident records, team diary and compliance documents in accordance with retailTRUST’s procedures.
  • Respond to emergency calls from residents and contact emergency services, social services or family members as appropriate.
  • Assisting in tenancy management matters; ensure residents understand tenancy issues, rights and responsibilities in accordance with their Tenancy Agreement.
  • Accompanying new residents and introducing them to the service and residents.
  • Taking part in the planning and delivery of social activities.
  • Visit residents at agreed intervals to assess their health, safety, welfare and security needs and make the appropriate referrals to relevant agencies.
  • Respond to the changing needs of the residents to enable them to live in their homes and within the community.

Skills and experience

The ideal individual will have previous experience of supporting the elderly (gained either in employment or in a voluntary capacity) and be educated to NVQ Level 2/3. The successful applicant will enjoy working as part of a team, but capable of working independently and able to use their own initiative. The Supported Living Housing Assistant must be flexible as they will be expected to work on a rota basis.
