Anger is not always a bad thing – when controlled, it can motivate us to take positive action in certain circumstances. However, if you or someone you know has a problem with anger, it’s an issue that needs to be tackled.
How can you tell if anger is a problem?
Do you think that people feel the need to “walk on eggshells” around you?
Have you ever been told that someone is afraid of you when you are angry?
Do you experience conflicts with others on a regular basis?
Have you ever been physically violent towards someone else?
Have you ever broken objects when angry?
Are you afraid of the intensity of your anger and what might happen?
Answering yes to some – or all – of these questions might indicate that you’d benefit from counselling. It could help you understand the causes of your anger, and look at ways to address its impact on your life.
