What’s in it for you
We’re seeking to appoint the first cohort of our Next-Gen Council for a one-year term. The council will consist of up to ten members aged under-30 who work in retail and are passionate about workplace wellbeing. Members will meet quarterly and engage in dialogue with the senior management team. The first meeting will be held in London on 28 April 2026, with subsequent meetings held online.
As a Next-Gen Council member, you’ll have the opportunity to influence wellbeing initiatives across the retail sector, build leadership and advocacy skills, network with senior leaders and peers, and contribute to meaningful change in workplace culture. This is a chance to shape the future of workplace wellbeing in the retail sector from the inside out, while developing your own voice and impact as a young professional.
What you’ll do
The council will collaborate with the Retail Trust on:
- Advocating for young people working in retail
- Advising on workplace wellbeing topics, messaging and communication
- Supporting the team with feedback on content as required
- Generating ideas for youth-focused content, including a dedicated content month
- Attending the Leaders’ Summit event, potentially as part of a panel.
Time commitment
You’ll be expected to attend four quarterly meetings (one in-person, three online), occasional events and respond to ad-hoc requests for feedback or collaboration.
Compensation
This is a voluntary role. With prior agreement, reasonable travel expenses within the UK to in-person meetings will be reimbursed. Lunch will be provided at the in-person meeting on 28 April 2026.
