Our vision for the Crookfur Estate

Crookfur Estate vision

The Crookfur Estate has provided accommodation, care and support services to over 1,400 retail retirees since 1967. The Estate, which was donated by Sir Hugh Fraser, has enhanced their quality of life, helping them to lead active and independent lives.

Our vision is to provide affordable, quality, and digitally enabled care to allow even more people to live independently within their own homes in the future. This project will be the largest scale investment in years for retailTRUST and demonstrates our real commitment to the community we serve in East Renfrewshire.

To achieve our vision we will more than double our current provision. Today, we have 92 residents at Crookfur and our ambitious plan is to provide 100 additional purpose-built units to complement the 44 cottages which are currently under refurbishment. Our plans have been approved and we have support from the existing residents and the local community.

The development will contribute towards the charity’s strategic goal of increasing residential provision across all our estates by 25%.

"I have seen first-hand that living on the Estate enables older people to be part of a community of like-minded people where they can make lasting friendships and enjoy social activities together. Our residents comment that they feel safe, happy and secure. I am really excited to see the redevelopment of the beautiful Crookfur Estate and the impact that living on the Estate will have on many more retail retirees in the future."
