Pets at Home pledges support to CaRe20 campaign

Pets at home thank you

Pets at Home has backed the CaRe20 fundraising initiative, donating £100,000 to the cause.

The specialist retailer’s pledge, alongside support earlier this week from John Lewis Partnership and TKMaxx parent company TJX Europe, takes the current appeal total to £528,000.

The CaRe20 campaign, which launched earlier this week, aims to raise £10m to provide financial, emotional, physical and vocational support to retail workers who may be ineligible for government support during the health emergency.

RWRC - the home of Retail Week and World Retail Congress - retailTRUST and the British Retail Consortium have joined forces to raise funds for those retail workers facing hardship due to Covid-19.

Donations from Pets at Home and other benefactors will go towards:

  • Financial grants to help with food, essential bills, childcare and other necessities
  • Telephone and online counselling to help those with stress and anxiety
  • Support with physical exercise and tips
  • Online self-help tools and resources through
  • Upskilling and retraining for colleagues facing redundancy or seeking a new role.

Group Chief Executive Peter Pritchard said: “At Pets at Home we’ve been working incredibly hard to ensure that we’ve looked after our amazing people during recent weeks. It’s also important however, that we also play out part as a citizen of a wider retail community, made up of brilliant, hardworking and dedicated people who have kept the country ticking during the COVID-19 outbreak.

“I’m incredibly proud therefore that we’ve been able to contribute to retailTRUST’s dedicated fund, CaRe20, to help retail colleagues in the UK during these exceptional times.”

John Lewis Partnership has donated £75,000 to the campaign while TKMaxx parent company TJX Europe has donated £100,000.
