Fly Fishing at the beautiful Dever Springs Trout Fishery
Nearly 30 attendees from the retail industry took part in the 31st Charity Fly Fishing Day organised by Craig Vidler BEM and his wife Marjorie. The event was held at the picturesque Dever Springs Trout Fishery in Hampshire on Friday, 7 June 2019.
The charity fishing day raised an incredible £9,136. The total raised for retailTRUST over the years is well in excess of £250,000. These funds are used by retailTRUST to improve lives across the retail sector and supporting service industries.
The biggest and largest catches
David Keens, Non-Executive Director of Sainsbury’s and Auto Trader, caught four fish which came in as the largest catch. Gary Harrison, Managing Director of Artisan UK, caught the biggest catch which weighed in at 9 1/2 lbs.
Peter Slaymaker was awarded the retailTRUST Fly Fishing Craig Vidler Special Award Cup for the outstanding support he provided this year.
Sponsors and supporters
We would like to thank Ted Baker and Peel Outlets for sponsoring the event. Generous support was also received from Oresa, who sponsored the drinks, Orvis, who sponsored the evening meal, and Retail Success, who sponsored the event breakfast.
A lively auction was facilitated by the London Toastmaster, Richard Birtchnell. Auction items included a spa day at Champneys, four Premier Club rugby tickets to see the Wasps, a Gieves & Hawkes made-to-measure blazer, and a fabulous fishing experience at Dever Springs.
