New Assistant Buyer and Merchandiser Apprenticeship

Assistant Buyer and Merchandiser Apprenticeship news story

The second in a series of apprenticeships for retail has been approved for delivery next year!

We are thrilled to announce that our Assistant Buyer and Merchandiser Level 6 Apprenticeship has been approved for delivery in September 2020.

The new programme has been developed in partnership with the government and a group of retailers including John Lewis, Marks and Spencer, and Steinhoff UK.

The apprenticeship can help businesses make the most of their apprenticeship levy funds. Over the 24-month programme, organisations can claim back up to £10,000 of levy funds per student.

The programme is a core and options apprenticeship, which gives flexibility to those who wish to develop their skills. It focuses on the joint skills base that both buyers and merchandisers have, as well as meeting their specific needs.

Apprentices work full-time, while studying their apprenticeship, overseen by an accredited training provider or university. Academic learning is integrated with practical on-the-job experience.

Amy Prendergast, Director of Change, People and Learning at retailTRUST, stated: “We are excited that the brand new Assistant Buyer and Merchandiser Level 6 Apprenticeship has been approved for delivery next year. The programme is the second of our apprenticeship programmes developed collaboratively with the industry which will help employees advance their careers and view retail as a career of choice.”
