A sad loss for retail and retailTRUST
We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of one of our longest-serving supporters, Craig Vidler BEM. Our condolences are with his family and friends at this sad time.
Craig supported retailTRUST for over 30 years and served as both a Director and Trustee. Through voluntarily organising the annual Fly Fishing event to a host of other fundraising activities, Craig raised an incredible £500,000 for the charity.
In 2016 he received the British Empire Medal for services to charity. Craig was also elected as the Life President of the Fly Fishing Alumni for outstanding service to the Trust two years ago.
Richard Boland, Chief Executive of retailTRUST, says: “It is with great sadness we report the passing of one of our longest-serving supporters Craig Vidler who passed away at 5am this morning. Our thoughts are with Marj his wife and his daughter Claire. Many of you will know of the famous Fly Fishing days which Craig sponsored over 30 years for us and which alone have raised well over £250,000 for the Trust, and with all his other fundraising activities he has raised over £500,000 for the charity. Craig did serve for ten years as a Trustee and was a great influence on the modernising of the Trust. Craig was named our Life President of the Fly Fishing Alumni a couple of years ago, and as such will live long in our memories. His influence over four decades as one of the longest-serving ‘head hunters’ in retail, upon the progressive careers of many aspiring directors and CEOs, is legend. A truly philanthropic man and a legend in retail circles going back over the last fifty years. God bless you Craig!”
Adrian Wright, Leasing Director of Peel Outlets Management Limited, states: “We have lost a wonderful warm, caring person and an icon in our industry.”
