Trailblazing for healthier ageing
We’re delighted that our smart homes initiative, launching soon at our Hugh Fraser Retirement Estate, has attracted the attention and interest of Innovate UK. We have been invited to interview in February to pitch for funding from the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund for our healthy ageing programmes, which are central to our smart homes strategy. The first 46 smart homes will be in full operation by the third week of February and our ambition over the next three years is to have 500 smart homes across our estates. Smart homes are just one of the initiatives we’re developing to meet the Government’s aim of supporting healthy ageing – allowing people to stay in their own homes for longer.
Richard Boland, Chief Executive at retailTRUST, stated:
“This is exciting news for the Trust! As we revolutionise our cottageHOMES retirement estates, we’re opening up a whole new world in digitally-enabled, supported living for our current residents, as well as those retiring from the retail industry. We’re proud to be developing smart homes across all our estates, and supporting the Government’s key aim of allowing people to enjoy five extra years of healthy and independent living in their own homes.”
